Thomas, you make a lot of misinterpretations of my post. Who says I don't know the technical details? I was talking about cable deployment of HFC, not replacement of copper. Telcos are moving into the cable industry as expected. Copper will not be replaced and when it is, it will be with FTC, but the majority of broadband consumer products may be delivery through the cable system. We will have to see how successful the deployment is. The sharing and speed degradation in cable has solutions being developed. The performance ultimately overshadow consumers wanting the ADSL product if they already have cable performing satisfactorily for them. I like ADSL technology, but from my early posts, I have felt that AMTX'ers have underestimated the cable competition. This was an old argument of mine that I was severly critisized for making; especially Gary Walker who was the threads old cable guru who always put down cable whenever I brought it up joined in by many such as Jim W. Cable looks to be more of a problem now for ADSL. I try to point these things out far in advance of it become obvious like it is now. I get slammed because I am ahead of the thinking curve on the issue. You don't make money basing your thinking on what is clearing revealed, but what is quietly unfolding. You should review some on the old post from May and read all the AMTX experts statements about cable and how it was so terrible and had no potential and would be bungled and that nobody would want it; etc. etc. etc. Now that they are wrong, do you hear them admitting who misleading all their arguments were and how they talked people out of unfolding opportunities in cable? Silence about their miscalling the whole thing. Of course, do I ever get any credit? And now you tell me I don't know the technology? Really! What I know is the investment. You all are too focused on the technology and lose sight of competition, market trends, etc. |
