Analyst Downgrades F5 Networks As Stock Hones in on Price Target and Competition Mounts

NEW YORK (AP) -- An analyst downgraded F5 Networks Inc. Tuesday on concerns competition will continue to grow and as the stock nears his price target.
RBC Capital Markets analyst Mark Sue downgraded the Seattle-based company to "Sector Perform" --the equivalent of "Hold" -- from "Outperform," or the equivalent of "Buy." The stock closed at $43.48 on Monday, near Sue's price target of $45.

Sue said F5's business model remains "solid," but said the company needs to make a marked improvement in its client offerings or face market share losses to rivals Cisco, Citrix and Nortel.

Shares of F5 Networks fell 41 cents to $43.07 in premarket trading.
