First time here: Is this a libertarian thread?

Up front I am a liberal democrat and was in politics for 30 years including a serious run for the state legislature.

Here is the problem with libertarianism IMO,-lol. I agree with many of their ideas, however, they overlook a very great and profound truth I believe. So they can never acheive prominence.

A two party system works the best for the following reasons:

It seems our species is divided into sort of two sub species i.e. liberals and conservatives. Recent scientific research has born this out. Different ways of thinking.

I have given this concept more thought than any other subject for 40 years.

If you notice, our entire society is dividing itself between liberals and conservatives e.g. there are no liberals left in the republican party and few conservatives in the democratic party.

There used to be many conservatives in the democratic party and liberal people in the republican party.

On talk shows they always have a liberal countering a conservative and vice versus.

We have noticed in our cultrual evolution, that our species seems to have two very differnt ways of thinking. And primarily two.

The Libertarian, may be a third major way of thinking, but it seems more a recessive gene-lol. They are sort of tolerant republicans I think and I have great respect for many Libertrians.

But I do not think there are many libertarians and never will be. Compared to liberals and conservatives.

Just as there are few people over 6'5''-lol.

They have thought about things and formed a philosophy. That is admiral in itself!
