Judge refuses to release juror names in Family Secrets mob trial
October 8, 2007 - A federal judge has ruled that he will not release the names of the jurors from the Family Secrets mob trial.

In a nine-page document, Judge James Zagel cited concerns about juror safety. He also pointed out that after the jury returned their verdict he set up a room for members to talk with the media if they wanted. Zagel says they all declined.

The judge also stated that he wants to send a message to members of anonymous juries that they will remain anonymous forever.

Last month, those jurors found five Chicago mobsters, including a retired Chicago police officer, guilty of racketeering and conspiracy charges.
