Common Law" handles the dishonesty. "Dispensing compassion" sounds like the arrogant thing a "Liberal" would try to do. Ya gonna do it in a robe with a Miter? No, I am a secualr humanist. We dispense compassion with empathy, kindness and civilized behavior. Arrogant-lol? You call being kind arrogant? I call not being kind barbaric and simplistic. Kindness is what separates we humans from the rest of the biological world. Just exactly what do you have without empathy and kindness. No validity as a human being and no place I want to live!
