Originally, they were saying 450 PPM for CO2, and just mentioned other gases as important., too. I think what they have done is figure out the effects from methane, etc, as if they were CO2, and then added it to the 390ppm we have now. (CH4 is ?25 times as potent as CO2).
Maybe the new # is just a red herring and we still have some time.Maybe they should have thought of this method sooner (no, I'm not blaming anybody; takes a while to think of things), and been more alarmist. Not that it would matter, cuz the US still wouldn't do anything until '09, and Oz and China won't do anything until we do.
