theproblem is that the arabs do have a strong case of being the victim of western imperialism....and the personification of that imperialism is israel.

No they don't. They got about 20 years of Western Imperialism, and that was almost by default because the Ottoman Empire collapsed and the Arabs had no idea how to organize themselves into anything that would function as modern nation-state, much less how to negotiate successfully with the Great Powers. The region had slumbered for 400 years while Europe advanced, and was caught unprepared. Now there is the heart of the problem.

Israel is just thorn in their side that keeps reminding them of the problem. A gang of despised Jews managed to buy and fight for a little patch of scrub, literally less than 0.1% of Middle East, without oil, and make an enormous success of the country, while what have the Arabs achieved, not even with the excuse of poverty either? War, politics, arts, science, business, you can name the field and look at the results for yourself.

Lol, if Israel fell into the sea tomorrow, which Arab problem would be solved? The rulers would have an enormous NEW problem instead. They would need a new excuse in a hurry.
