FWIW, I bought a Refurbished Samsung DVD-1080P7 Up-Converting DVD player for $52.28. Even if it later becomes obsolete, at $52.28 what have I got to lose? I can't see paying for a dual HD format DVD player, like the LG one, almost as much as the HD television.

BTW, I saw in the Goldman Sachs note this morning, Message 23957750 ,
that they think the near-term market dynamics favor lower cost up-convert DVD's and Zoran's up-convert DVD chip solution.
Goldman has a Buy on it and a price target of $23. S&P rates it a Hold with 12 month target price of $24. I don't have a position in Zoran, I haven't finished my DD on it. In fact, I hadn't heard of it until this morning.

My personal choice for a set would be a LED Engine 1080p DLP HDTV. Size of set depends on the size of the room you're going to put it in and how far back from the screen your going to sit.
Here's a guide.
