I am more interested in electing a Republican President next year. Stand on principle, but this veto is a loser. It may make the (phoney) conservative base feel better - the same base who AGREED to a huge new Medicare Drug Plan (unfunded) and huge new farm bills, huge new highway bills, and now where do they make their stand: on a health issue for Children.

Come on Peter, if you want to see the creeping socialism of the Bush Republicans (trying to out demo the demos), look at Medicare Part D, or the Farm bills....

Starting this new fiscal restraint religion on children's health care is an bad political move. That was my point.

It's political idiocy...

If you had made the same arguements over the drug bill or the farm bill I would be with you 100%. They were politically defensible....this one is just a loser.

And, I might add, inconsistent with the prior actions.

Its too little too late for this administration to try to claim its fiscally responsible.
