BID (a Latin abbreviation) medically refers to 2 times daily (ideally every 12 hours). TID is 3 times daily (every 8 hrs), but then you start to get noncompliance since people don't always keep track of time schedules (the same applies to antibiotics, heart drugs, blood pressure meds, etc.). It is always best for a doctor to prescribe the easiest regimen for the patient to follow. Don't bank on the fed gov't funding (paying) for the best meds available (re: Medicaid system). I have commented on this before. Usually, the least expensive, but effective, drug is authorized for any particular medical condition, not just HIV/AIDS. IMO, Viracept is too expensive.
