>>The other day I went "all in" with pocket aces against a pair of kings. I got outdrawn. The result was terrible, but it was definitely the right decision. It is possible to make a correct decision based on probabilities and get a bad result.<<

there is no doubt this war was the "right decision" for some. i just don't see how america's population has benefited.

terrorism has gone waaaay up 10 fold since the invasion. maybe not in america (yet), but it seems to be an annual event over in england.

here is my short list of who has benefited from this war:

1. terrorists. more recruits are lining up now than before the war.
2. military and security based companies.
3. stockholders in the military and security based companies.
4. gas companies.
5. israel.
6. iran.
7. every usa political adversary
8. canadians - they can now buy 25% more american stuff for the same canadian dollar. heck, the rest of the world's economies if their trade has anything to do with the 21st century "looney."

the big loser appear to be the american public who have lost 25% of their purchasing power as we mainly import goods. wait until inflation catches up with this reality.

i mean, what was saddam going to do to us, disrupt the sand market?

there was no wmd and saddam wasn't exporting terrorism to the usa.

the problem with your approach is that it can apply to invading any and all of some 100+ countries. "no wmd, no problem. we'll invade and try and make your country one big happy place."

maybe that would be worth a try if we didn't leave our lobotomized fallen to hang out with rats. but we do... and that doesn't even account for the dead and havoc that reaps on the families left behind... many destined for poverty given current policy.
