The ZE boxes are xDSL capable. They are modular in design and as the press releases state, are capable of interfacing with different types of networks. If you want the box to work with MMDS you plug in an MMDS network interface module (NIM) into the box. If you want it to work with HFC, you plug in an HFC NIM. If you want it to do ADSL, you plug in an ADSL NIM.

The press release mentioned switched digital video. Don't SDV schemes typically employ xDSL?

My point is that the ZE boxes aren't tied/restricted to cable. They are a generic broadband platform. I wouldn't be surprised if they become the platforms upon which the RBOCs in Americast execute their initial large scale ADSL deployments. Heck, there are going to be a couple million of these boxes out there.
