Joe, I think we are closer to 1972 than 1986. Long, slow grinding bear where the neophyte bulls buy the dips appeals to my gut. But I am no market picker. Yes, the business conditions are somewhat important, but the capital spending cycle is the key and the real contribution of Information Technology to productivity, not much, are the real keys. And you have to ask, why should somebody upgrade? And the answers don't sound very convincing for most businesses. The peripherals are in much worse shape than the pcs themselves. Just take a look at HWP's latest quarter, and they are the big kahoona of printers. MB
