I find it difficult to argue with the view that Hillary is to a great extent a socialist. Clearly, her heart is with the notion that it takes a village (meaning, a village government) to do anything worthwhile. I am very far from being an admirer - rather to the contrary. But I agree with CK that she is doing the wise thing by not giving in to the hard Left and by leaving herself flexibility in the future. This is exactly where Kery went wrong, when he listened to his idiot advisors and publicly dissed Alawi - with whom he, obviously, would have to have a strong working relationship if he were elected. I think that Hillary would absolutely refuse to allow her presidency to become a disaster al la Carter. Be it for not the best of reasons, but I think that she is likely to make far fewer disastrous decisions than her competitors for the Dem nomination. If this country is going to elect a Democrat next year - which, contrary to popular belief is far from being a given - I'd rather see in office Hillary than Obama or others.
