Carter threw Hillary under the bus--he wants Gore:

Shortly after Al Gore refused to answer a question about a possible presidential run, former President Jimmy Carter told a crowd in Gastonia, North Carolina he's hoping Gore will still run. "I don't take a choice between, among the Democrats," Carter said when asked who he will support for president. "Although if Gore decided to run for President, I would support him."

Carter made a similar endorsement of Gore this morning on MSNBC’s Morning Joe with Joe Scarborough.<
