I have little hope of our species making it to the next century. If I believed that, my entire career of growing forests for the benefit of my children's grand children would be a total fraud. I believe man-kind will survive until the last days of the earth, and maybe even beyond that. I do agree that political persuasions and religions talk past each other without understanding. I ascribe that as to a lack of desire to do so, rather than lack of ability. To me, rapping with people I disagree with is much more fulfilling than just agreeing with everything, like some Bagwhan Shree Rashneesh follower. It's perfectly logical, and not very difficult, in my opinion. In fact, it's beyond my comprehension why humans make so little attempt at getting along. Politically correct namby pamby seems to be the current means of addressing the problem, which is nothing but fraudulent thinking in and of itself. Perhaps it is that the law of the jungle still lurks in our genes, and it was not formulated to deal with modern realities. As for Carville and Matalin, I don't trust either one of them. To me it seems like an unholy alliance.
