I don’t often read Nadine’s posts, but still, nevertheless, I occasionally peruse one or two of them. I find her tone to be interesting. She advocates always the action that is brutal but never in a way that is harsh. Rather, she paints herself as a person who deals with violations of innocence. Her tone is always that of the wisdom of the world-weary, as in: no, we don’t like doing what we have to do....but if you keep doing terrible things to us....we have no choice.... you -- YOUR action -- forces us to take the harsh measures that we take.
Here is a quote of hers from a recent post:
“You don't want the Israelis to attack you, just don't cross the border and kill Israelis. It works great.”
The sad thing about this quote is that I have no doubt but that Nadine believes what she says, even though, of course, obviously, what she says is an absolute, total, complete, utter and very dangerous BIG LIE.
There are so many examples of Israeli cross-boarder intrusions and there are so many acts of unprovoked Israeli aggression that one hardly knows where to start. I will mention, e.g., 1) the biggest of all, and the epicenter of the crisis of the Middle East: Israeli’s unilateral occupation of the West Bank. It is stunning that Nadine somehow manages to believe that Israel, which is in the process of carrying out a brutal, violence-based appropriation of land belonging to another people, will leave you alone if you leave it alone. Another big nasty cross-border intrusion on the part of Israel is of course: 2) the war waged against non-Hezbollah Lebanon in the summer of 2007.
As for acts of aggression on the part of the Israelis, they are endless. Try this on for size: (From the Walt and Mearsheimer article on the Israel Lobby.) “During the first intifada, the IDF distributed truncheons to its troops and encouraged them to break the bones of Palestinian protesters. The Swedish branch of Save the Children estimated that ‘23,600 to 29,900 children required medical treatment for their beating injuries in the first two years of the intifada.’ Nearly a third of them were aged ten or under.”
Implications of what is being said here are sobering. Israelis soldiers used truncheons to beat 7000 or so children -- under the age of ten -- hard enough to cause them to require medical treatment. UNDER THE AGE OF TEN!
This is the truth that Nadine’s tone of violated innocence masks (from herself, above all, you understand). It is why I say about her, and those like her, that they are twisted in a way that amounts to a form of collective insanity. They do an act of evil to another human being, then turn around and interpret their act as being CAUSED by the other human being. So powerful is this mechanism that it allows Israel to steal land, murder people, attack innocent human beings not a danger to them, and beat eight year old girls with truncheons, and yet at the same time feel in good conscience that they are only responding to evil.
Nadine and many, many Jews have fallen this dangerous mental state. With such people, there is no end to aggression and there is no end of violence until everything lies in ruins – with “not one stone resting upon another.” |
