In yet another display of government imbecility a woman in Idaho was required to remove her brassier before being allowed to enter the Federal Courthouse. spokesmanreview.com Has the "double-barreled" slingshot suddenly become the weapon of choice for wild eyed fanatical Muslims? Not at all. Marshals were just concerned that the under wire that give the bra its shape could be a weapon. The US Marshals service is quick to point out that the woman did not have to remove the bra, she could have left. What this serves to prove is that government is broken. It is broken in that we hire into the civil service people so lacking in common sense that walking upright could be considered their greatest achievement. We allow these same people to formulate rules that are then foisted upon the rest of us with the weight of law. What if this woman had said, " No! I will not undress for your silly rules." And then had walked on in? These same Barney Fife's would have wrestled her to the ground and arrested her. That is if she did not get shot when one of these geniuses decided that the ol' bra was a deadly threat. After they are in the civil service it takes an act of God to remove them. There are many ways that this could have been handled. Were the Marshal really concerned they could have used a hand wand to investigate. But that would have required the use of more than three brain cells. They could have gotten a female officer to inspect the woman. But again this requires thought. These events that so irritate and shock the senses continue because we the people allow them to continue. We need to call them on their failure of judgment and basic good sense. You can do that by calling the head Marshal himself, Director John F. Clark. He can be reached at 202.307.9001. Let him know that we expect more from our government. Let him know that Barney Fife needs to stay a fictional character, we can always enjoy him on re-runs. No need for the Marshals Service to make sure we experience him for ourselves.
