Last spring we had to take a flight from Dallas to Phoenix and there was some commotion because of weather delays. At one point they had us wait for a few hours - late into the night - in hopes of getting on as standbys on the next flight. They refused to tell us how many people were in the same situation. Only AFTER the next flight was boarded we found out that there were still some 140 people before us in line. We had to spend the night camping out in the terminal - and we had plenty of company. In order to speak to an employee one had to wait for about 40 minutes in line, and then you would have their attention for a short while - but no sensible answers. My suggestion to our traveling companions that we should rename American airlines into "Anti-American" was not entirely a joke.
