On October 10th Fidelity filed an SC-13G indicating that they owned 8,955,425 shares of VMW. This looks like a new holding for Fidelity and probably represents a Big Bet in excess of $750 million and an ownership position of a shade more than 11% of VMW's outstanding shares. Although Fidelity sometiimes errs with their timing, their overall performance is good - particularly when they make Big Bets like this.
