Democrats are held to a lower ethical standard. Republicans often chide democrats for their ethical slackness and when Republicans make slight lapses they are grilled for it. But because democrats seem to know they are scumbags, they rarely discuss ethical lapses as a problem, thus they cannot be grilled for have pretensions of moral superiority.

It is a chicken and egg thing, but it also ties into the liberal control of the FMSM. When a liberal falls ethically (and the MSM refused to report it) does it matter? (The question is a form of the question: When a tree falls in the forest and nobody is around to hear it does it make a sound?)
