This is Breast Cancer Awareness Month; it may be that HMSC will see some further creep upwards despite the absence of any news on the wires - I still can't find any news story to explain any positive effect on the stock price and they still seem to not be shipping any product yet. This product apparently won't have FDA approval for over-the-counter sale for at least a few years, if ever. Consequently, it will have to be marketed to clinics or individual practitioners. It seems very unlikely that this will be able to provide a substitute for mammography as a screening tool, since to do so would deviate from the standard of practice and therefore present a medicolegal risk to the practitioner. To be accepted as a reasonable adjunctive test to mammography it will have to demonstrate cost effectiveness, a difficult thing to do in the face of ever-tightening insurance coverage policies and capitated payment plans.
On the other hand, if this thing could get OTC approval, the demand would likely be huge.
