CNBC update:

Summary from this morning's CNBC news:

1) BT may be another potential bidder for GTE if WorldCom/MCI deal can
be settled soon.

2) AT&T may BUY GTE instead of a merger and look for other
candidates such as the chairman from U.S.West or BellSouth as the
new AT&T chairman.

3) The buyout/merger of GTE will take a long time to get regulatory
approval which is expected for the deal with this magnitude.
