It is only hypocrisy if the conservative in question has spent lots of time bashing gays. Or Rush wanting lock up drug users and throwing away the key. Unless, of course, it is his own nuts that gets caught in the wringer. Because, you know, it is hypocritical. To a much lesser extent, belonging to a party which spends so much time and effort against homosexuals is also hypocritical. I don't care if someone is gay or not. Or, for that matter, managed to get themselves addicted to Oxycontin. But when they take the stance of punishing everyone else but themselves... Yeah, I will throw out the "H" label. Because, you know, it is appropriate.
