Is buying EMC a cheaper way to get in on VMWare action?

At today's prices, EMC's market cap is $47.7 billion and VMWare's is $38.4 billion. If EMC has an 86% stake in VMWare, that would make EMC's stake worth $33 billion. This means VMWare represents almost 70% of EMC's valuation. Given the strength of EMC's other business lines, this seems really out of balance: Either VMWare is extremely over-valued, or EMC is extremely under-valued. Am I missing something?
