Crimson > Although a motion to avoid Israel bonds in the Palm Beach County Investment portfolio lost -- the fact that a very prominent local figure pushed hard in public to avoid these bonds is a sign that times are changing

Derba didn't push to avoid the Israeli bonds because they were Israeli but because they were A-rated and therefore less secure than the bonds usually permitted. But he lost, the less secure Israeli bond was chosen on political grounds. Then Derba resigned in disgust.

The net result was that Israel won -- and in two ways. Firstly, the less secure Israeli bond was chosen in preference to other higher grade investments and, secondly, Derba, whose first concern was clearly for the Palm Beach County, has resigned and Israel-firster, Burt Aaronson, now has things all his own way.

So, as I see it, things have changed only to the advantage of Israel.
