koan: They took polls-lol. Also, most professors are liberal, most reporters ar liberal, the liberals are better educated, etc. Because education makes people more liberal.
Look, I know it is a grand genralization, and the two populations do overlap (e.g. libertarians-lOl), but you know, if you applied statistical methods to the two populations I would bet it would show the probability of two populations.
For over 40 years this question has caught my attention more than any other. I got my first degree in psychology to better try to understand it. And I have studied the thought process intensly for 40 years.
Canada if culturally much more evolved than the US and maybe the phenomon is peculiar to a less advanced culture like the US-lol.
But, I doubt it. Nurture conservatives have some chance of changing as they obtain eduation and there problem sems to be more of an imprinting,indoctrination problem stem from early childhood teachings by parents and socieity, theris-lo.
Nature conservatives thought process seems set in stone. Their process works differently.
Liberals and conservatives talk right past each other, neither having much impact on the other and certianly little communication.
Where the problems start is in the courts. If I know the party of the judge I can guess his decisions greater than chance. And look at our supreme court: 5/4,5/4,5/4,5/4,4/5 -lol-decsions, with usually one swing vote (libertarian-lol).
Our congress is in gridlock as there are now no liberals or conservatives in each respctive party so they vote party line, vote, after vote, after, vote. |
