What I don't understand is why solar pricing is not in parity with oil or even cheaper? CJ answered the question better than I could. It's hard to beat a coal fired plant for cheap electricity with a fairly low investment. But you have to look at the full cost... and if G.W. is indeed a result of CO2 emissions, then the 'cost' of a coal fired plant is astronomical... and the cost of solar energy is cheap. As is Nuke energy. The argument for gas efficiency is much easier to make, because the economic benefits, beyond G.W., are much more compelling. And the first generation technology is in place, and fairly cheap. If it were up to me, every passenger or light commercial vehicle sold in the US in 2013 would have to be, at minimum, a hybrid. Hopefully we will be moving to all electric by then. You can see the train wreck coming... you can almost hear the fat lady singing. With 25% of the worlds consumption and 5% of the worlds population we are sitting ducks. And who benefits? Oh hell, I'm preaching to the choir. Been saying this stuff for many years now... and frankly I'm getting sick of listening to myself. As others are probably sick of listening to me repeat myself.
