If you go to HughHewitt.com, and select the talk radio tab, you will see two recent shows he did with Howard Kurtz, ABC's media critic, who just wrote a book on the Network News wars. I think you'll find it an interesting discussion.

Kurtz points out that the network news shows still command 25 million a night (compared to more than double that when Walter Cronkite retired) and they still consider the NYT the prime source of news. Half the time they just rip 'n read.
