Concurrent Scores Second VOD Launch in Baltic States

Successful Scansatec Partnership Delivers ATLANTA, Oct 22, 2007 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Concurrent (CCUR), a worldwide leader of on-demand technology that is shaping the future of television, announced today the commercial deployment of video-on-demand (VOD) in Lithuania. Lithuanian telecommunications provider UAB Alpha komunikacijos has chosen Concurrent's MediaHawk(R) On-Demand Platform to launch in September. The new broadband system is projected to reach up to 40,000 IPTV subscribers in a decentralized architecture covering most of the major cities, including Vilnius, the capital city. The sale is the second one in the Baltics to be secured through Concurrent partner Scansatec, one of the leading broadband and IP technology providers in Finland and the Baltics. Concurrent is now the sole on-demand vendor in the entire Baltic region. "We are excited to have secured our second VOD launch in the Baltic states," said Gary Trimm, president and CEO of Concurrent. "Our partnership with Scansatec has been invaluable in breaking into this quickly developing market. In Lithuania alone, cable television operators pass approximately 620,000 households, which represent a huge growth opportunity for on-demand." "Concurrent was chosen because of their flexible and scalable architecture," stated Tero Jousi, owner and general manager of Scansatec. "Their superior technology has helped us tremendously in securing these Baltic markets, and we are confident that our partnership will garner additional markets in Eastern Europe." Marius Dabrisius, CEO of Alpha komunikacijos, views the MediaHawk on-demand solution as field-proven and the only reliable on-demand solution for their system. "We trusted Scansatec with our head end gear and middleware," said Mr. Dabrisius. "Their recommendation of Concurrent for the on-demand solution was supported by the fact that Concurrent has shipped more IP streams to Europe than any other provider." Concurrent's MediaHawk On-Demand Platform provides unequalled system stability and uptime. The first and most widely deployed VOD solution to utilize commercial off-the-shelf hardware, the MediaHawk delivers independent scalability of content ingest, storage and streaming across both HFC and IP networks worldwide. To date, Concurrent has deployed over 1.1 million video streams in 26 countries.
