One of the pundits on Real Money did an article about Qatar. Unbeknownst to many, Qatar sits on the largest natural gas field in the world and is working feverishly to develop its LNG capacity. The interesting takeaway from the article was when the author pointed out that India and China will benefit most from Qatar's hydrocarbon reserves because shipping to them will be cheaper than shipping to N. and S. America and to Europe. Something I have never thought about before.......shipping the ME's oil or LNG to China or India is less expensive than shipping to the US......and the biggest reserves are still in that part of the world. Fortunately, there is Canada with its sand tar oil providing some offset.
