F5 Networks Issues 1st-Quarter Earnings Guidance Below Wall Street Estimates; Stock Falls

SEATTLE (AP) -- F5 Networks Inc., which develops software that manages computer network traffic, on Wednesday issued first-quarter earnings guidance below Wall Street estimates and the company's stock fell in after-hours trading.

F5 Networks expects quarterly earnings of 20 cents to 21 cents per share on revenue between $154 million and $156 million.

Analysts polled by Thomson Financial expect a profit of 23 cents per share on sales of $164.1 million.

Shares of F5 Networks, which also announced the resignation of a senior sales executive late Wednesday, dropped $3.27, or 8.1 percent, to $37.20 in aftermarket activity, after falling $3.80 to close the regular trading session at $40.47. The company's stock has traded between $27.84 and $46.94 in the past year.

The company reported fourth-quarter net income of $12.9 million, or 15 cents per share, compared with $17.8 million, or 21 cents per share, last year. Revenue jumped to $145.6 million from $111.7 million.
