GTE Downgrade:

Brown Brothers downgraded GTE to ST hold from ST buy. JP Morgan
downgraded GTE from buy to LT buy. It is VERY interesting to
see these downgrades now.

LOGICALLY, why would a brokage firm downgrade GTE NOW
when it is confirmed that there is a serious talk about a merger????
Can it/they wait for another TWO WEEKS??? The risk/return
rato just does not make sense to me. Therefore, the only reason I can
think of is that they need to buy more share with LOWER price. So they
downgraded GTE NOW.

This is just my guess. If anybody has Level II quote information,
please post here to confirm whether JP Morgan and Brown B.
are actually buying today.
