As most around here know I have had many Dells and also self built machines, but a few months ago I bought a Macbook primarily to learn more about the Apple OS. I like the Apple and I presently have 4 OS's, WinXP, Vista Ultimate, Tiger and another Cat installed on it for testing purposes.

As for hardware, the pricing compared to other makers is good. As for advantages, I think the Apple OS is nice, but overrated, but it also doesn't take too long to understand. On the other hand Vista and XP are more familiar to most users and I feel are not as burdensome as many want to suggest. If price is a main consideration, there are a lot of quality laptops for well under $1000, But if you are buying a desktop replacement with a Core 2 Duo a Mac is priced fairly plus you have the option of adding Windows if you choose.

I presently use XP and Tiger about evenly and I am playing around with Vista and that other Cat Os until I determine their final value and finalize upgrading to them. I am in no hurry for either.

I expect my next desktop I will build and will be a Yorkfield based PC and I will play with installing a few Cat OS's on it.

Good Luck

Don
