Mike,it may be OK but probably better places to invest unless you plan to use the place or have good contacts in the area.Foreigners have already been buying the beach places for the last 5 years and pushing up prices, next Brazil is the one of the few emerging mkts that has let the mkt inflate their currency.I think 5-10 years from now their inflation adjusted currency will be weaker than 1.8 R/$ (in the short run anything is possible). In Ocean City Md 2/2 condos on the beach 7 years ago were 250K and went up to 600K and probably going to 450K or inflation adjusted 350-450K.In Guarapari Brazil the same condo is already about 250K-300K.If you chose to get land on the beach go to far away places and prepare to wait 20 years.Better is to buy simple building lots in a city like elmats or Belo Horizonte and make money over the next 5 years before Real weakens
