Um, where have you been?


If economies of scale beyond the size of the current large health care insurance companies where a clear major benefit than you would see a much greater degree of such mergers and/or large companies taking over the market. Except for niche's you'd probably have at most a handful of insurance companies. Look at what happened in the US with car companies in the 20th century, from scores of companies to "the big three".
