Jim, I do not think it was the average investor who took this stock down, but the gunslingers running big money ( of course they are not scientists). I majored in Chemical Engineering & Biology @ University of Cincinnati before going on to Med school, but I admit I am not fluent in the language of semiconductor construction.
When this sort of fall happens, as it has to me before, no one can get out unhurt, not even the big guns. The market makers make a killing via spreads, as they always do. I just wait, re-evaluate the fundamentals, and make a decision after the dust settles.......... The SEC really pulled up short on their settlement with NASDAQ...What a racket! The people who really make the money in the market are not the investors, but the brokers and market makers...........
With regard to SDL, I am worried about all the lawsuits. On the other hand, the company clearly has more business than it can handle. It is probably the world leader in laser technology. Lasers and fiberoptics are taking over telecommunications, making copper obsolete. I think government contracts will only get bigger. My brother in law is an Air Force engineer working on cockpit design and heads up displays, and he is impressed by SDL. On balance, I agree with you.. this is a buying opportunity, and will hold my position..... Republicans would throw more $$ at defense & star wars, but alas, they won't beat Slick Willie...he has sex appeal, and the women like him too much:-) wj |
