I understand what everyone is saying about the CPQ deal being good publicity. But let's not get too excitied about it. Remember if the details are true, it's only 250K chips, over 2 quarters. That's NOTHING for CPQ. I don't even think CPQ will make that big a deal out of it.

The other thing is that those chips will be aimed at the low cost market, where CPQ has been making MOST of it's sales lately. My fear is that rather than increasing name recognition those chips will get lost in a sea of other systems/chips (MediaGX, low-end Pentium MMX). If that happens I think we can all agree that this was a waste of time.

I still say that I would really like to see AMD focus on yields right now and nothing else. Worry about sales after you have something to sell has always been my approach. Can't sell something you can't make. (or at least have)
