It is not hard to imagine that we have some of the best medical care in the world. After all we have all these great universities that do advanced research and act as teaching hospitals.

It is also not hard to imagine that any of the horror stories suffered by people in countries where they have universal healthcare (stories that people on this thread keep trying to scare us with) can be matched by equal numbers of victims suffering botched healthcare in this country.

It is also not hard to imagine that the average healthcare provided to people in this contry is lower than what they get in Canada and the other advanced advanced nations in Northern Europe.

There are 47 million people in this country without health insurance. That is a larger number than all the people in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Belgium, Lichtenstein, and the Netherlands put together.

It is not hard to imagine that we can fix this problem where we can still have the best care possible for people who have worked hard and can afford the best care money can buy and where we can provide adequate care for everyone else.

Why do we have to fight over this?
