This certainly seems to be a 'babies and bath water' event. It doesn't seem to matter what the quality of the underlying holdings was, whether it was govt backed, energy related, real estate (non-residential), corporate or ???. They all dove off the high diving board in August.

I'm just glad I had the chance to get some surplus cash put back to work. Long term that psychotic break on income investments will have a lasting positive impact on my retirement account as well as taxable accounts.

That's a nice looking bunch of CEFs there in your portfolio. Congratulations on a job well done.
