Mindmeld, like I said, I don't doubt that man-made global warming is happening. If we need to spend federal tax money for research into alternative energy, that's fine by me. Let's treat it like the "space race" of the 21st century, especially if it's going to have a significant impact on our national economy and security. But don't tell me I have to go out tomorrow and buy a plug-in hybrid, or use only one square of toilet paper, or pretend that the wildfires wouldn't be lighting up if it weren't for global warming. Don't tell me that the oil companies should be treated like Big Tobacco of the previous decade, because oil has much more of a use to the modern world than nicotine. And don't tell me that I should join the wacked-out ABB crowd, or agree with the Nobel Peace Prize committee's new definition of "peace," or pretend that the world isn't signing onto Kyoto just because they want to see America pay first. In short, liberals are doing to environmentalism what they accuse the "religious right" of doing to Christianity. Tenchusatsu
