you should get Paul R Ehrlich's book if you haven't already got it...

I've read portions of his first book. He proved to be overly dramatic in his predictions. However, a water shortage in the West is not part of the same drama. Its a serious, serious problem that has been known for quite some time. The recent wildfires in S. CA are symptomatic of the problem. There is enough water for everyone in the West only if the rains come every year. Unfortunately, the rains rarely are consistent. Even in WA state, water conservation has become a normal part of life.......low flush toilets, low water shower heads, no watering your lawn in the summer, etc.

As for Ehrlich, some may say he was overly dramatic.....but the way I see it, his predications were simply a tad early.
