"Perhaps the public simply needs problems to finally come to a head --- get so bad that there is a sense of crisis... and inaction is no longer an options serious people consider...."

With the Congress so widely hated that only 8 - 11% of the people think they are doing an adequate job, how much deeper into the hole do we have to sink before we have reached crisis? The profligacy of all in Washington has exceeded epidemic proportions. Who does anyone think is going to pay for $5,000 for each child or for Socialized medicine or to shore up Social Security for another twenty years?

Certainly you don't expect democrats to lead us from the brink. I doubt if you expect the entrenched Washington Republicans to discover fiscal prudence. I can currently name one US Senator who has a degree if fiscal sanity and that is Oklahoma Senator Tom Coburn.

The bath water is spoiled, can we save the baby?
