Would you prefer to say that there is light at the end of the tunnel??

No. That was not appropriate when LBJ said it in the fall of 1967. What else could he say? He had just finished increasing our troop levels in Vietnam from less than 30,000, when JFK was assassinated, to 575,000.
On the other hand, one could say LBJ was right about the light, but what he failed to tell us is that it was pointing towards Hanoi.

If people can not face the fact that this is going to go on for quite a while, maybe what we are is not worth defending.

If we are to believe LTG McChrystal's statement that AQ in Iraq has been rendered ineffective, then what we are seeing now should be attributed to civil war, regional conflict, local squabbles, or some combination of all three. And we should not interfere with it.

If McC is wrong again...He should be replaced immediately.
