I think you understand what I mean... or will if you think about it. Health insurance, and other benefits, are 'blind' compensation. If people are not writing a check it distorts the market. You of all people should see that.

You can easily use this same argument against universal single payer. Except in this case the market is so screwed up you can't get back to a free market. So the best solution is government... squeeze what you can out of cost and cover the entire population.
