I think you understand what I mean... or will if you think about it. Health insurance, and other benefits, are 'blind' compensation. If people are not writing a check it distorts the market. You of all people should see that.

Health insurance distorts the market more than having it be given as compensation distorts the market. Government incentives for corporations to give this benefit also distorts the market. There is some additional distortion once you remove the factor of distortion from having any type of insurance, and distortion from the government benefits, but I don't see it as being as big as the other two factors.

Except in this case the market is so screwed up you can't get back to a free market. So the best solution is government.

Even the relatively limited free market aspects still have a benefit compared to a totally socialized solution.
