As for the drive icons, they appear in the order in which they mount. I can't help you with that one. Not that I've helped you with any of them, really.

I also have 4 internal hard drives, and what's really strange is that other than the boot drive, the order the other drives mount in appears to be random. Sometimes my backup drive mounts second, sometimes it's third, or less frequently last. I've never been able to figure out why.
