Health care doesn't trump everything else. For example if you don't get food and water you won't live to get that triple bypass surgery.

As you well know, we were talking in the context of health care, not 'everything is life'. So your answer is BS.

In any case the issue I raised wasn't whether or not health care trumped everything else. I said universal coverage wasn't the only concern or one that trumps everything else. The terms "health care" and "universal coverage" (meaning everyone is covered by a "health insurance" program) are not synonyms.

To many on this thread the difference between the European model of universal health care is the issue. In fact "A US National Health Care System?" is the title of the thread.

At any rate... I will probably walk away from the (multi-multi-post) debate for a while. I think I've made my point, and you and your libertarian friends have made yours. I don't think either side is going to convince the other side.

But I'll leave with a very basic point. All the major industrialized countries have managed to insure all their people, except for the US. All their people are getting care, and not going bankrupt in bad situations. The same is not true here. And their health care costs about 1/2 what ours costs. That's serious.

No matter your ideological bent, no matter how you try to nuance it away, there is something wrong with those facts. WE are doing something wrong, not them.

Hillcare is on it's way unless you have a better solution. And I haven't heard one. Come up with a better solution to the problem or you will have a socialized medical payment system.
