No group of 4 million people believes that "The most militant is always right." To me, that's obvious - it's human nature
What you think is human nature is a product of your upbringing, in your culture, in your environment - which at a guess, was safe, secure, well-fed, democratic, law-abiding, and not particularly ideological.
Human nature under such conditions can be very well-intentioned and trusting, which describes most of your ideas.
However, it is a big, big mistake to think that human nature is like that under very different conditions, as a cursory glance of history should show you. How did the Crusades or the Spanish Inquisition ever happen, if their societies didn't accept the rule that the most militant were the ones on the right path? They weren't forced on unwilling majorities.
Nor have the Palestinian rules of operation, which Rubin has described based on long observation, been forced on the unwilling. The one thing the Pals could do is withdraw their support for terrorism, as shown in the public opinion polls. They haven't. Consistently, 70% to 80% support suicide bombing and other forms of terrorism. So please don't tell me that they just can't believe what they routinely tell pollsters they do believe.
Come, you've read my posts enough to know that I don't have any on the ground evidence for my views
...ain't that the truth
they're just my views, based on common sense, and that's it.
...they're based on good intentions, but I'm sure I would apply the words 'common sense' to any of it. |
