You are too pessimistic, IMHO. Despite all this Shrub's "Russia is evil" stuff, it is now a democracy. Quite a few organized crime problems, I agree, but Putin will go. It remains to be seen if his party will. Even if the communist party gets to rule Russia again, which is not at all likely IMHO, I doubt that will push the country back to the old ways. They are not banned, and popular among the older, dying generation. The communists will destroy whatever Russia has achieved economically in 4 years, then get replaced -g- Russia has been copying the US in a lot of ways to build a democratic society and a market economy.
